Gender Equality: Ongoing Challenges

IBP hosted a special panel discussion with representatives from Imperial Business Partners member organisations on the 7th March.

The panel included, Rachel Higham, MD CIO of BT group, Alison Atkinson, Director Capital Projects at AWE, and Nupur Singh Mallick, HR Director of TCS UK. They were joined by Professor James Stirling, Provost, Imperial.

The discussion was chaired by Anjana Ahuja, freelance science journalist, Contributing Writer, Financial Times and double Imperial alum, and explored the difficulties still faced by women in the workplace and the challenges employers face in overcoming these difficulties.

Women@Imperial Reception and Book Launch

The evening also included speeches from Professor James Stirling, Provost of Imperial College London, Professor Dorothy Griffiths, Provost’s Envoy for Gender Equality and Rachel Blythe, ICU Deputy President (Finance & Services). The event also included the launch of Women At Imperial College: Past, Present and Future, written by Anne Barrett, College Archivist & Corporate Records Manager. Musical entertainment was provided by the College’s female a cappella group, The Imperielles.

About this event

Women@Imperial is an annual celebration of the achievements of Imperial’s female staff and students. The week is centered around International Women’s Day (Wednesday 8 March 2017) and helps raise awareness of the support the College provides for women.
