Tom Aldred is Head of Growth Economics at HM Treasury and led the development of the government’s Productivity Plan, which was published in 2015. He joined the Government Economic Service in 2003 and has worked in the Cabinet Office, DCLG and Defra.

Tom has worked on a wide range of economic policies, specialising in urban economics, local growth policy and cost benefit analysis with experience in analytical disciplines including research design, “deep-dive” reviews, modelling and quantitive methods.
