Shin Tominaga mastered Engineering specialising in nano-photonics related to the wave theory at Tokyo Institute of Technology in 2006.

After that he joined NEC in Japan to research some state-of-the-art technology such as new OPTICAL DISC of larger capacity (>10x) and LED PROJECTOR of downsizing (<1/4) using the holography and  the plasmonics. He applied the wave technology for asset management of water supply networks through working as a visiting researcher in Imperial College London in 2014-2015.

Shin was appointed Principal Researcher of NEC central research laboratory in April 2017, managing a team and challenging smarter water management.
