Santo Bains is a Climate Scientist and Technology Programme Manager in BP’s Chief Scientist’s office. His role is to investigate and evaluate new science and technologies that have the potential to substantially change the nature of modern energy production and its impact on the global carbon cycle.

Santo joined BP after completing a DPhil in Earth Sciences at the University of Oxford. During his studies he used data from the geologic record to reinterpret the causes and consequences of rapid climate change events in Earth history and published the findings in journals including Science and Nature.
