As Vice President CO2 Policy for Shell, John is accountable for developing and steering Shell’s global CO2 policy. His early career was in drilling and production engineering in the UK, The Netherlands, and Malaysia. After working in The Netherlands in a corporate strategy role, he became executive aide to Malcolm Brinded CBE, Executive Director of Shell Upstream International. Thereafter, John moved to the United Arab Emirates as strategy manager for the Middle East and Caspian region. He then led Shell’s joint venture operations in Egypt, before his current assignment.
He holds an MEng Petroleum Engineering from Imperial College London and a Master’s in Sustainability Leadership from the University of Cambridge. He is a Chartered Petroleum Engineer, a Fellow of the UK’s Energy Institute, and a Member of the Institute of Directors
