In an era when many developing nations have capital cities far exceeding the physical footprint of old world countries the past few decades have seen urban metropoles emerge as resurgent powers. Mayors have steadily grown more empowered and the more recent phenomenon of Night Mayors has secured this position. So, at a time when it is unavoidably apparent that resources are finite, it it critical that governments, corporations, NGO and citizens address how cities can sustainably grown and connect while remaining competitive.
On the 29th November 2016, Imperial College London co-hosted the GFCC’s Global Innovation Summit to address these issues. To compliment this we want to introduce you to some of the academics and research groups that are working towards improving our urban environments environmentally, technologically and governmentally.
